Tonight the school board held a public meeting presenting plans for a new middle school in the castle district. Tonights meeting was about plans for a new school in the castle district, but the meeting was full of parents in the Elberfeld district who arent getting a new school. Theyre putting sixth grade students in the high school. Full-day kindergarten in causing some issues in Warrick county. Theres not enough space for the students "Weve added 600 students in the past six years. 150 more are expected each year of the next several years and 350 more with full day kindergarten," says Superintendent Bob Schneider This packed room of parents come out to tonights school board meeting to hear plans about a new middle school, but most of these parents are from Elberfeld. The new school is going to Castle students. "Were not opposed to Newburgh and Chandler getting a new school," says parent Brett Roy. They have a problem with plans to put sixth graders at Tecumseh high school. "Were going to have 11 year olds with seniors in high school." Parents here want the young kids separated from the high schoolers but they arent sure how the board plasn to do that. "Theyve tried to calm our fears by saying theyre going to add on. I dont see how its going to be done without another gym, cafeteria library." The boards says they understand their concerns. "I want the parents to know we took their concerns to heart and were looking at solutions." Adding its one step at a time to make sure students in the entire county are getting the education they need, in the best spaces posisble. The superintendent says on June 1st theyll take parents on tours of area schools that already have schools with sixth through 12th grades. He says nothing is final and he wants to continue to hear from parents
