People opposing Evansvilles newly approved annexation have begun their 90-day journey toward putting things back the way they were. This week was a group to got its petition going. Monday the city council approved making the largely commercial area of Knight Township that includes the Super Wal-mart, Home Depot and Best Buy a part of Evansville. And, the city says its willing to talk with opponents to try to find a compromise. Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel says he has been in talks with several taxpayers in that area about how this plays out and how the annexation could become effectual. Opponents say Evansville is taking the land because of the extra property taxes the city can collect.
