breaking news
Dr. Vince Bertrand has a long resume, and it's now in the hands of the EVSC school board.
Bertrand is a former high school principal with the Lafayette, Indiana School Corporation. He's also worked there as assistant superintendent, and is currently studying for a masters degree in education policy and management at Harvard.
Bertrand is the first candidate to be interviewed since the EVSC board called off it's last superintendent search. That search ended when one finalist pulled out, and another, current interim superintendent Bob Yeager, was passed over. The process used by the board was highly criticized, but at Monday night's meeting, board members defended their format.
Still, they've decided to narrow their focus as the search moves forward. Instead of bringing together a pool of candidates, they've decided to interview each qualified applicant individually. They won't move on to a new candidate until the current one has been eliminated. Board members say they'll be able to get a better feel for the educators, spend more time with them, and give them the attention they deserve.
Monday's meeting with Dr. Vince Bertrand looks like it is will result in a second interview, however board president Dana Willett would not comment specifically on what steps are coming next.
