breaking news
A Pike County family gets an unwelcome surprise on Monday morning.
The family found a dead bobcat on their small farm in Winslow, Indiana.
The animal was lying on the side of the road, it had apparently been hit by a passing car.
Property owner Tina Dove says although she knew it was a big cat, she wasnt quite sure what she was looking at, "I called my sister-in-law. She said it sounds like a bobcat, so I called (The Department of Natural Resources) and they came out to identify it and sure enough, thats what it was."
According to the Indiana DNR, bobcats are most often spotted in the southwestern part of the state.
They say bobcats avoid people and prey on small animals like rabbits, mice, and rats.
