More than 400 active workers in Henderson are preparing to strike if the company they work for decides to void their union contracts. Dana Corporation filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and now they want to cancel union contracts to get some of that money back. Theyre the reason big rigs roll. The workers at the Dana Corporation Plant in Henderson make the heavy axels for semi trucks, freightliners, large s-u-vs and busses. "Our people work very had they work a lot of overtime hours," says Union Representative Bobby Pierson. But soon they may be walking the picket line rather than working the assembly line. Last month Dana filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy "Theyre saying they need 400 to 500 million dollars to emerge out of bankruptcy and become a new global company." To find that money they want to void the contract with the union meaning all 52 hundred union employees across the country - including the 400 actively employed in Henderson become at will workers. "They can be fired at will for any reason whatsoever." Union Represntative Bobby Pierson says that isnt the solution to their problem. "We think there are a lot of issues out there not being addresred and we think it can be done in a different manner." They want to work with them for a fair contract for both sides so the company can keep trucks rolling and the workers can keep their jobs secure. Right now a judge is considering whether Dana can legally null and void the contract. If he gives them the go ahead they will strike. Both sides expect an answer from the judge Monday.
