Karl Rove canceled his speaking engagement at the annual Vanderburgh County Lincoln Day Dinner. President Bushs Chief Advisor was slated to be the keynote speaker at the $100/plate dinner. Rove canceled, citing pressing issues in Washington. In spite of his no-show, local republicans were pleased with the evenings turnout and are looking forward to their future, both locally and nationally. Vanderburgh County GOP Chairman Nicholas Hermann says, "I think we have a lot of positive things to look forward to. The presidential race, Mitch Daniels run for governor, and many other good local (Republican) candidates." Mike Duncan, the National Republican Chairman, stepped in as the evenings keynote speaker.
