News Release: From: Red Cross CELEBRATE FREEDOM, HONOR SOLDIERS, GIVE BLOOD Evansville, Ind.— The Red Cross will kick off one of it’s largest blood drives of the year, beginning tomorrow. It’s a way for Evansville residents to celebrate the freedom they enjoy, thanks to the men and women serving our country. On July 1st and 2nd the Red Cross is asking folks to stop by the chapter building at 29 S. Stockwell Road between noon and 7 p.m. to donate blood. “It’s a way for our community to make a contribution to the safety of all our neighbors who may need blood at some time,” Executive Director Matt Bertram said. “Just like our service men and women are contributing to our freedom, we all can make sure our local hospitals have the blood supply they need.” Historically, there is a greater need for blood during the summer months. When making you and your family’s plans for this Fourth of July holiday, make donating blood a part of it. On Tuesday, July 1st there will be a short ceremony at the chapter building at 11:30 a.m. before the blood drive gets underway. The Son’s of the Revolution will present colors, military families will speak about the importance of freedom, and there will be light refreshments along with live patriotic music.
