Suicide is now the second leading cause of death for Indiana teens, behind accidental death.
A new survey suggests one in every six 15- to 19 year olds contemplates suicide.
Researchers also found that one in ten actually tried to carry out a suicide plan, and one in 24 needed medical attention after a suicide attempt.
The numbers suggest a spike in Hoosier teen suicides over the last 5 years, making it the second leading killer of our youth. In 2004 99 Hoosier teens took their own lives, putting the state ahead of the national average.
