The owner of a popular Evansville sandwich shop is facing felony charges.
Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Deputies arrested Kenneth Butler, the owner of Jimmy Johns on Burkhardt Road, Friday morning.
Deputies say last December, Butler was charged with battery and criminal mischief for allegedly assaulting one of his employees.
Charges were filed and a court date was set for March of this year.
Officers say Butler apparently tried to get the victim to drop the charges, but he refused.
So Butler allegedly asked a different employee to go to court, pretend to be the victim, and ask that the charges be dropped.
The pair went to court and the request was granted. The charges against Butler were dropped, until the victim recently contacted the Sheriffs office for an update on the case - thats when a warrant was issued for Butler.
If convicted of the felony, Butler could face up to three years in prison.
Deputies say charges are still pending against the employee who pretended to be the victim.
