breaking news
Monday is day one in the trial of a man accused of drunk driving and crashing into a school bus. Gabino Gonzalez is in Vanderburgh County Superior Court today after the judge rejected his plea deal. Gonzalez is also identified by the names Jose Luis Torres-Rodriguez and Avenamar Morales-Perez. He allegedly crashed his car into an EVSC school bus back in October of 2006. Afterwards, he went to the hospital for injuries, but skipped town before he could be arrested. Gonzalez flew under the radar until he was arrested last year after a traffic stop. During this weeks trial, he faces charges including criminal mischief and drunk driving. In a proposed plea deal Gonzalez argued that he was drinking because he just learned his mother had died. Officials say Gonzalez has been deported once before.
