The Kentucky State Police force is 60 years old this year. In honor of the anniversary, Commissioner Rodney Brewer decided to take the agency back in time. Tuesday, he unveiled 17 limited-edition state police cruisers that have the same color scheme and decals that were used by the agency when it was created in 1948. The decals were made to distinguish the new Kentucky State Police agency from its predecessor, the Kentucky Highway Patrol. A handful of the modern cruisers will have the old decals for a short time also. Each of the 16 posts across the state will have a "retro" car to be used for public affairs, recruiting and exhibits. The other 1948-era car will be at the KSP headquarters. They will only be used for a short time.
