Boys & Girls Club Breaks Ground

They turned the first shovels of dirt Tuesday morning on the new Evansville Boys and Girls Club facility. Construction is expected to last around ten months on the American General Financial Services Boys and Girls Club. Its going up at 700 Bellemeade Avenue. The club hopes to see a big boost in the number of kids they serve at the new location. Ron Ryan runs the club. He says the old 1894 school house location is in a neighborhood where the number of kids is decreasing. He says he’s glad to be locating in the Bellemeade Avenue area where there are more children living nearby. The new facility should be open for the 2009 summer season.
