Roy Lee Ward is heading back to death row for the 2001 rape and murder of a Spencer county teen.
Stacy Payne died after being raped, beaten and slashed in her familys Dale, Indiana home six years ago.
Roy Lee Ward was convicted and sentenced to die, but his conviction was overturned due to pre-trial publicity.
After a guilty plea two weeks ago, Ward was sentenced again.
Stacy Paynes family says they are focused on the memory of the vibrant young girl and believe justice has been served.
Wards defense attorneys argued that he is psychotic and should have received life without parole.
The jury took just 45 minutes to return a death sentence.
