Textbook Fees

Evansville parents should expect to pay more for school textbook rentals.
Members of the EVSC discussed an increase for next year costing some parents close to 18-dollars more.
That means parents of elementary and high school students already paying more than 100-dollars per year can expect to shell out even more money.
Every year there are increases because the state adds new books to the curriculum.
EVSC Support Services Director Pat Tuley says the increases really affect families with more than one child.
But he says there is nothing that can be done unless the state gets involved.
Indiana State representative Phil Hoy failed to get a bill that pays for all students books passed earlier this year.
Hoy says he will try again in two years.
The cost to the state is estimated to be more than 100-million dollars.
