A Mount Vernon family is mourning the loss of a child. Police say a little boy accidentally drowned in a pool just yards from his apartment. It happened Tuesday afternoon just outside Pecan Hill apartments. Police found Mylan Jackson, 2, floating in a swimming pool behind the apartment complex. They say the little boy apparently wandered outside, found a way into his neighbors yard, and apparently fell into their pool. Authorities had initiated a search for the boy after his mother frantically called to report her son missing. Rescuers administered CPR on Jackson, who was unresponsive. He was transported to Deaconess and pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say the investigating in still ongoing. No charges have been filed. Neighbors say the gate around the pool is always closed and may have accidentally been left open because it was trash pick-up day.
