breaking news
Linda Durham had to go to court to begin a job she was elected for in november.
Linda Durham wanted to take the job as trustee to help people.
She says as a child her mother was assisted by the office.
Durham was supposed to start in january but some money issues stopped that from happening until yesterday.
Its a small office but its new ground for Knight Township Trustee Linda Durham.
She thought she should have been walking around these offices in Janurary.
"It was a little frustrating but my grandma always said what doesnt kill you makes you stronger."
Durham was asked not to start as trustee in after she was elected because she didnt follow Indiana statute requiring her to buy a nearly three thousand dollar bond.
"Im in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy currently because of that I had some difficulty getting a bond."
The point of a bond is to make sure any dishonesty or error with money in the office is taken care of.
Without that the township asked her to leave office in Janurary.
She says two weeks later she got the bond but they decided that wasnt enough.
After a Feburary meeting the board decided Durham couldnt take office thats when she took them to court and a judge said she could go back to work if she had a bond for the whole year.
Wednesday Durham got back to work.
She says its a learning experience but is to make up for the work shes missed in the last four months.
Durhams bond runs out at the end of the year.
She isnt concerned about buying another one for next year.
