The LST is holding its second annual D-Day reenactments. The history channel will be there to tape it and work on a show about LSTs. Volunteers give tours everyday teaching the importance of the LST 325. This weekend theyre getting national help bringing the ship back to life. Inside the Ward Room writers and producers from The History Channel are working with the LST crew preparing for a 3 day shoot. "The LSTs were really crucial to our freeom to winning WWII," says writer Ron Marans. Thats why the ship is included in the 13 part series Hero Ships. One episode will feature LSTs. There were more than 1000 sixty years ago. Today there is only one in the US - the LST 325 in Evansville. The ship offers a great opportunity for The History Channel because most of the other ships are underway. Here they can get on the ship an opportunity to show living history. The show will include stories of the men who sailed the ship. "These guys did superhuman things to save the lives of hundreds at their own expence" Working on the LST 325 allows producers to physically show those superhuman things while highlighting the gem that sits on the banks of the ohio river. The Hero Ships series will air sometime this fall.
