The Vanderburgh County Coroner says her two young children also involved in the accident are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Marys Medical Center. The coroner says the woman who died is 25 year old Kathrine Stucker of Evansville. She died at 5:40 this evening. She and her two children were walking westbound when the truck headed north on Fulton hit them. The kids are at St. Marys. The coroner says one is in critical condition. He is not releasing their names yet. This afternoon Dave Amavisca saw something he cant shake from his memory. "Nothing like that in my life. It was just a freak accident." On his way home from work at the intersection of Fulton and Columbia Amavisca was one of a handful of witnesses including a police officer who saw a pick-up truck hit a woman and a young boy and girl no older than 5 or 6. "They were in the crosswalk over there and you can see where their shoes and little blood puddles are." Police say the woman took the children by hand as they followed the crosswalk right into oncoming traffic. "The car had the right of way the pedestrians ran right in front of them," says Officer Steve Green. A small pink tennis shoe and the little boys sandal mark the spots where they landed at least 20 feet from the crosswalk. The impact was too much for the woman who was taken to the hospital but later died making the incident that much more traumatic for Amavisca and the other witnesses. We dont know the identity of the driver who police say was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The two young children are in the Trauma Center at St. Marys.
