Threatening Incident In Shawneetown

A young man, agitated and armed with an assault rifle, allegedly enters his parent home, threatening them and police. It happened in Shawneetown, Illinois last night. Police say 27-year old Mark Harmon entered his parents home, armed with a M-16 assault rifle, and handgun, and threatened to harm his parents or any law enforcement that intervened. Due to medications Harmon was allegedly taking, he finally fell asleep. His parents were able to get the guns and call police. A Tactical Response Team with the Illinois State Police entered the home and apprehended Harmon without incident. He was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center for evaluation. Criminal charges are pending
