breaking news
Many times officers suffer injuries like gunshot wounds that cause them to lose dangerous amounts of blood.
This year alone 63 officers have died in the state of indiana.
They say donating just one pint during this special drive can help save an officers life.
This afternoon the faternal order of police held their blood drive downtown.
"The blood drive started about 5 years ago with a lady whose husband was gunned down in the line of duty and they figured the best way to honor him was a blood drive because he took so much blood with his accident," says courtney adkins with the indiana blood bank.
If youd like to donate but missed the drive this morning Warrick County is holding their blood drive Tuesday afternoon.
It runs from 1 until 4 at the Fraternal Order of Police at 300 Owensboro Road.
