New Area Code in Kentucky

Some residents in Western Kentucky will soon become very familiar with the numbers 364.
Those numbers have been selected as the commonwealths newest area code.
Areas affected include Henderson, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Murray and Paducah.
Cities remaining in the 2-7-0 area code include Bowling Green, Columbia, Glasgow, Elizabethtown, and Owensboro.
A transition period will begin april first of next year, with a mandatory use of the new area code to take effect october first of 2008.
