Hundreds of riders came out to a bicycle fundraiser for the Owensboro Red Cross. It began just before eight this morning at Waymond Morris Park. They raised not only money but awareness about safety. Some were riding 12 miles while others were riding 100 miles but they all were wearing helmets. Forrest Roberts says bicycling can be a dangerous sport. She says it only takes one fall to give you a serious brain injury or possibly kill you. She along with Fundraiser Chair Mark Schmidt think people riding bicycles should always wear helmets. More riders participated in this years event. Schmidt says they will probably surpass last years 10-thousand dollar total.
