Too many fires in the last six months has area firefighters concerned.
They held a press conference Friday to discuss the problem.
Evansvilles Fire Chief Ken Zuber says so far this year, there have been four fire fatalities and seven injures.
Thats the most since 2004.
He says the causes vary from arson to accidents.
There have also been acts of nature like Fridays fire on Adams St. and undetermined causes like the fire earlier this month on third street.
In most incidents though there was at least one common thread-kids.
Theyre to blame for at least five of the seven fires with injuries and fatalities.
So the fire department created the juvenile fire setters program to help determine if its an accident or if its a mental health issue.
Chief Zuber says parents also need to do their part in educating children too.
Teaching them about fire safety and also fireworks safety as we move closer to the fourth of July.
