Governor Ernie Fletcher is taking a stand against legalizing casino gambling in Kentucky.
Previously the Republican governor said hed stay out of the debate, although maintaining he was personally against it.
But with the governors race approaching in the fall, Fletcher is taking a political position on the issue.
He will now oppose efforts to amend the Constitution to legalize casino gambling in the Commonwealth.
Fletchers November opponent, Steve Besehear, is for casino gambling as a way to increase revenue for Kentucky and raise money to fund state programs.
