A Henderson County jury is now deciding if a Mount Vernon man is guilty of killing an elderly Henderson woman.
The trial of Jeffery Scherretz went to the jury around one this afternoon.
Scherretz is accused of breaking into Anna Greens home in April of 2006, stealing her money, tieing her up with duct tape and killing her.
During closing arguments Prosecutor William Markwell talked about the private, lonely life the widow lived.
He said she kept $11,000 in her home adding Scherretz discussed the amount of money in Greens home with her neighbor.
The defense focused on the reasonable doubt that proves Scherretz innocence.
Attorney Zack Womack focused on one witness who says she is addicted to drugs.
She testified that during a meeting a month after the crime she came across the money she thinks was taken from Greens house.
Womack says Scherretz was not invovled in that meeting.
The prosecutor wants Scherretz sent to prison for life.
