As you celebrate the Fourth youre urged to be mindful of your pets.
Loud noises like fireworks can scare them so much they may get loose and wander off.
The Vanderburgh Humane Society says to keep them in a comfortable and safe place like at home.
Dont leave your dog outside in a pen alone while fireworks are going off in the area.
If they go outside, keep them on a leash and make sure they have proper ID tags so if they do get loose, they can be returned to their owners.
Nationally, the first business day following the Fourth is the busiest at animal shelters for lost and found pets.
