Five southwest Indiana counties are moving from Central Time to Eastern, pending final approval from the US Department of Transportation.
Knox, Daviess, Martin, Dubois and Pike Counties all joined the Central Time Zone when the Indiana General Assembly voted to switch the state to daylight saving time in 2006.
Business leaders and politicians in the five counties backed the appeal to the Federal Government, which stands poised to make the change official this November. All that remains is a 30 day public comment period before the DOT rules.
Perry County has also made an appeal to the DOT, but there is no word yet on the status of that motion.
