Preservationists in Owensboro say prospects for saving a historic school house look grim. The 76-year old Longfellow school building sits just south of Owensboro High School. Next week, the school board will unveil plans for a 22-million dollar expansion to the high school. Preservationists worry that the expansion will mean Longfellow will have to be demolished. The school board is hosting a hearing on the expansion next week, where they will unveil drawings of the proposed expansion. Preservationists hope that some of the architectural artifacts of longfellow school will be preserved, it the board decides to raze it.
