Kentucky is the second state in the country to electronically monitor the sale of a major ingredient in meth. A new bill passed earlier this year made it possible. The breaking down of dangerous meth labs built with the help of a key ingredient purchased often times behind the counters of local pharmacies. But the passage of a new senate bill says pharmacies can track this same process electronically... Done through a device called methcheck. Pharmacists say alot of companies are now replacing the pseudoephedrine ingredient with phenlephrine but that hasnt stopped meth producers from trying to get their hands on as much as they can get. Daviess county sheriff Keith Cain says that new process will result in even more arrests. And stop meth cookers before they start. Once the nearly 400-thousand dollar methcheck system is placed in more than 1300 pharmacies, Shefiff Cain believes it will gain popularity. Sheriff cain says he expects the state to start equipping pharmacies with methcheck system by november of this year.
