The nieces of Billy Basham found his body in the Green River Monday not far from the area where he went under Saturday. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Witnesses told rescue crews that Basham jumped from his boat into the Green River without a life vest. Shortly after going in the water, Basham began to struggle, then slipped below the surface. His wife was in the boat, and is an accomplished swimmer according to friends, but was unable to help. The Henderson City County Rescue Squad searched for Bashams body Saturday and Sunday using drag lines. Monday morning, two of Bashams nieces searching the river bank in the same area on personal watercraft found his body.
