The department of transportation began inspecting 13 bridges across Indiana Monday.
Governor Mitch Daniels made the call Friday to examine all steel truss bridges in the state... six of which are in southwest Indiana.
The New Harmony bridge over the Wabash River was first on the list before inspectors went to the West Franklin Street bridge over Pigeon creek.
Indiana D-O-T spokesperson Cher Goodwin says workers will visually inspect the bridges.
She says they will be using binoculars and any item they feel maybe an area of concern they will write it down and report it.
Results from the inspections should be made public by Friday.
Also on the inspection list are bridges in Martin and Gibson counties, the city of Owensboro, and the northbound lane of the twin bridges.
