250-Thousand SpongeBob Address Books And Journals Recalled Due To Lead (Washington, DC) -- A quarter of a million SpongeBob SquarePants address books and journals are being recalled because they may contain high levels of lead. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the lead can be found in the black metal spiral bindings. Lead is toxic when ingested by children. The Chinese-made address books and journals have the SpongeBob SquarePants character on the front. They were sold for about two dollars in stores nationwide between June of last year and July of this year. Parents should take the items away from children. Consumers can contact the importer, Martin Designs, for a refund. The company can be reached at 866-898-0261 or online at www.martindesigns-ltd.com.
