Posey County will reassess its commercial and industrial properties.
The Department of Local Government Finance, headed by Cheryl Musgrave, ordered the reassessments Thursday.
At a public hearing this month, some homeowners expressed they might be paying more than their fair share.
The state determined 97% of the countys commercial and industrial properties had remained at the same assessed value over a six year period.
Musgrave says Posey County taxpayers made it clear they want fair property tax bills, which means reassessment is necessary.
County officials argued the assessment didnt change because of a large amount of vacant commercial and industrial property.
