breaking news
Work on the Twin Bridges is about two months ahead of schedule.
Keith Todd from the Kentucky Department of Highways tells FOX 7 that crews have finished sandblasting the northbound bridge and the structures containing that work will be removed in the coming days.
However, about two months of touch-ups and inspections will keep the current traffic and lane restrictions in place.
Todd says motorists obeying the lowered speed limit and mother nature have helped speed up the project.
Todd says the good news is that once work starts on the southbound bridge it will take place mainly at night.
The bridge work is part of a two year maintenance project.
