Ambulances carried away around 17 people from the site of a school bus accident in northeastern Vanderburgh County Tuesday afternoon. An Owensville Community school bus went off Interstate 164 and crashed into a cornfield around 4:30 in the afternoon. It happened just south of Highway 57 near exit 18. The injured include 13 students, 3 coaches, and the bus driver. Authorities say the driver lost control. Officers say it may be due to a medical condition. There were no life-threatening injuries, however authorities say the victims suffered bumps, bruises and possibly broken bones. All 17 people went to area hospitals. The Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Dept says blood alcohol tests on the bus driver are negative. Additional toxicology results are pending.
