THREATS OF A STUDENT BRINGING A GUN TO SCHOOL PUT WEBSTER COUNTY OFFICIALS ON ALERT. SECURITY WAS BEEFED UP AT THE HIGH SCHOOL TODAY AND SOME PARENTS RUSHED TO PULL THEIR KIDS OUT OF CLASS. MANY PARENTS WERE SCARED WHEN THEY FOUND OUT POLICE WERE IN THE SCHOOL, AND HEARD RUMORS OF SOMEONE BRINGING A GUN INTO THE BUILDING IT ALL HAPPENED WHEN THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM A CONCERNED PARENT. THAT PARENTS DAUGHTER RECEIVED INFORMATION SOMEONE MIGHT BE BRINGING A GUN TO SCHOOL, SO AROUND 4:30 THIS MORNING, THE SHERIFF CONTACTED THE SCHOOLS PRINCIPAL. ALTHOUGH THE THREAT WAS ONLY AN ANONYMOUS PHONE CALL, DEPUTIES, STATE TROOPERS, AND SCHOOL FACULTY LOCKED ALL DOORS INTO THE BUILDING, MONITORED THE PARKING LOT, AND SEARCHED ANYONE WALKING THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR. AROUND TWO HUNDRED OF THE APPROXIMATELY 650 STUDENTS CHECKED OUT BEFORE NOON. CLASSES DID CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY FOR THOSE THAT DID WANT TO STAY, WHILE SCHOOL OFFICIALS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WERE TOOK EVERY PRECAUTION TO ENSURE THEIR SAFETY. SHERIFF FRANKIE SPRINGFIELD SAID THERE ARE NO CURRENT SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE THREAT, BUT THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT. ONE THING THEY DO KNOW, IS THE THREATENING PHONE CALL WAS MADE FROM A CELL PHONE
