The Evansville Utility Board has approved design work for the largest of four projects recommended by the Storm Water Task Force.
Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel announced the $24 million project, which is bordered by Bayard Park, Weinbach, Madison Avenue and Rotherwood.
1500 people and 300 acres are involved.
The plan is to build a separate storm sewer parallel to the existing combination sewer.
Planning will take a least a year with construction tentatively scheduled to start in 2009.
