Another major road block could cause headaches for those traveling on the northside of Evansville. Many worry that the shutdown of St. George Road will only add to traffic caused by construction on Diamond Avenue. St. George Road will be closed beginning next Monday and until October 31st. City engineers say its necessary to complete bridge work on the road but area businesses say its only adding to traffic problems. Connie Engelbrecht owns an apple orchard and says bottlenecking will occur and it will hurt businesses. County engineer John Stoll says drivers just have to be patient when using Petersburg Road as a detour over the next couple of months. He says he does expect more traffic in that area but says this work must be done.
