It's kitten season at the Vanderburgh Humane Society. That might sound cute, but it means the shelter is at maximum capacity for cats. And to make matters worse, feline adoptions have remained low in recent weeks. So the VHS is extending an invitation for animal lovers to open their homes to a new kitty companion. Even if you're not able to add a friend, they'd be glad to take any monetary donations or supplies, such as cat litter. Also, they make a plea to everyone to spay or neuter.
VHS has set special fees to help encourage more adoptions. They're in effect now until Saturday, September 29.
Cats over 6 months of age, normally $80, are now $70.
Kittens and declawed cats with a regular fee of $100 are now $80.
Everything will still be included in the adoption as before, such as the cat's spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, AVID microchip, first de-worming, sample bag of Science Diet cat or kitten food, ID tag, and a cardboard carrier to get your new cat home.
