breaking news
Firefighters got a unique call to a home near downtown Evansville this morning.
A man stuck inside a chimney.
Its exactly what youre probably thinking no he wasnt robbing the place people inside the house say he was pretending to be Santa Claus.
But the outcome of this trip down the chimney wasnt as jolly.
"See that hole thats where he was at," says Connie Deweese.
Its a place reserved only for Good Old Saint Nick, but someone else tried to climb down Connie Deweeses chimney.
"Hes trying to be Santa Claus but he didnt bring presents."
Neighbors say Deweese and Alejandro Valencia got in a fight early in the morning.
After Deweese left to go to the store locking up the house.
When she came home she realized someone was trying to get inside.
"This stupid a$# climbed in my chimney. You can hear him bow bow bow. I said Paul hes in the wall I can hear him."
It wasnt the wall he was stuck in but rather the chimney 15 feet from the top.
Firefighters say there are two reason this was a bad idea first the chimney is not wide enough to get down.
Second, there is no fireplace it was bricked over.
Thats what caused this mess when firefighters tried to get him out.
Friends cut a small hole so he could breath during the 30 minutes or so it took for rescue crews to get him out.
Neighbors say its not uncommon for Valencia to find unique ways to get inside the home.
"She does throw him out and he finds a way to get back in," says neighbor Monica Martin.
This time his efforts were less successful.
Firefighters say alcohol was involved.
Valencia was not charged with any crime.
Deweese however was ticketed for disorderly conduct and interfering with firefighters.
