They asked for it... Now, five southwest Indiana counties are getting their wish, to shift back to the eastern time zone. This decision by the U.S. Department of Transportation leaves just six counties in this part of the state on central time. Knox, Daviess, Martin, Pike and Dubois counties are leaving central time November 4th, and joining the 75 other Hoosier counties on eastern time. Perry County asked to switch, but was denied. That means 5 million Hoosiers will be eastern. Just over 1 million Central. The only other part of the state still on central are 6 counties near Chicago.
