From: Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center
Newburgh Civitan will conduct the annual Zombie Farm beginning Sat., Sept. 29, and continuing through Oct. 31. The club will provide “no-scare” performances nightly 6:00-6:45 p.m. for younger children or the faint of heart, with “full-scare” performances presented during the rest of the schedule.
The nightly no-scare performances are the perfect opportunity for children ages 10 and under to use a free admission coupon from the Easter Seals Safe Halloween Coupon Book. The books retail for $1 and include coupons for over $50 worth of free treats from area businesses; for a complete list of coupons, visit www.eastersealsswindiana.com. The coupon books are available for sale at the Zombie Farm and 200 other locations throughout the tri-state. Proceeds from sales of the coupon books fund therapies for local children and adults with disabilities at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.
Also in conjunction with Easter Seals Safe Halloween, free fliers with safe trick-or-treating tips will be distributed to area elementary school students during the month of October. The fliers are also available at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center. Each flier includes a coupon for $2 off admission to the Zombie Farm, and each time the coupon is redeemed, Newburgh Civitan donates $1 to Easter Seals!
Newburgh Junior and Adult Civitan members have presented an elaborate haunted Halloween experience annually for over 30 years. The project began as the Newburgh Haunted House and continued to grow over the years. The event, which is now known as the Newburgh Civitan Zombie Farm, continues to be one of the area’s most popular autumn traditions. Junior and Adult Civitan members participate in the set-up and operation of the event, including creation of props, scenery, costumes and character make-up. More than 50 live actors and behind-the-scenes volunteers are involved. The project has won numerous Adult/Junior Civitan joint project awards. Proceeds from the event help to fund Newburgh Civitan’s activities as well as helping to support the missions of Easter Seals, Special Olympics and Civitan Research Hospital.
