Pike County deputies believe they finally have one of the killers in a 19-year old murder case. 51 year old George Culbertson of Oakland City was arrested Friday and charged with the murder and robbery of Rick Deffendall. Fox 7 learned that a Pike County probable cause affidavit for murder states that Culbertson confessed in a letter to Deputy William Walker in the spring of 2003. Deputy Walker has been investigating the case since the beginning and believes he can now finally retire. He says he going to leave his position the Tuesday before Thanksgiving but will attend the trial. According to Pike County Prosecutor Darrin Mcdonald Culbertsons arraignment has yet to be scheduled. Mcdonald says hes still deciding whether to seek the death penalty. Deffendalls body was found in his bed shot multiple times in June of 1988.
