State Police Arrest Vincennes Man for Obstructing Firefighters
From: Indiana State Police
Knox County – Last night, September 30, at approximately 8:46 p.m., a passing motorist dialed 911 and reported a large fire at McGiffins Towing Service, located on South Hart Street Road. Within minutes, Vincennes Township Fire Department arrived and discovered a large fire within a fenced in area. Firefighters were not able to determine what was burning and attempted to gain access through a locked fence. Charles Bloebaum, 41, of Vincennes, was on the property and refused several times to unlock the fence to allow firefighters access to the fire. Senior Trooper Brent Clark and Trooper Matt Jacobs arrived at the fire and ordered Bloebaum twice to unlock the fence. After Bloebaum refused, Clark and Jacobs climbed the fence and arrested Bloebaum without incident. As Bloebaum was being arrested, the owner of the property arrived and allowed firefighters access to the fire. Firefighters soon discovered a box truck bed had been ignited. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. Bloebaum was taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
