breaking news
It appears a memorial for victims of the November Sixth Tornado is overrun with weeds.
Neighbors of the playground at Eastbrook Mobile Home Park are concerned about the up keep of the area.
Weeds are overtaking the grass and this equipment is falling apart.
Neighbors want to know - Whos supposed to take care of this playground?
Not many kids want to play on play ground falling apart and overrun by weeds.
But this isnt just a playground.
Its also a memorial for the 25 people who died in the November 6th Tornado.
And its been left in a state neighbors are not happy with.
"It has gotten very little attention," says Dave kurtz.
He lives just down street from the park
Not only is Kurtz concerned about the look of these weeds that come up almost to my waste, but he has two grandkids that play here.
They dont like coming to a park that looks like this.
Kurtz knows its an important area to all kids at Eastbrook Mobile Home Park.
"During the summer months, yeah it got a lot of use."
But now theres more weeds than kids.
"The flowers died out the weeds took over and the kids stopped coming."
A pack of boyscouts are one group who keep an eye on the park.
But theyre only responsible to check up on it every four months.
It needs more attention than that to keep the weeds out and the kids coming in.
One of the parks creators says anyone who wants to help keep in it the shape it deserves is more than welcome to volunteer.
If youd like to help with the upkeep, you can contact Kathryn Martin at kathryn@cjsbus.org.
