Haggling Can Pay Off
(New York) -- Instead of waiting for a sale, try asking for a discount.
According to the results of a Consumer Reports National Research Center survey, more than 90 percent of those who asked for a discount received one at least once in the past three years.
"Consumer Reports" editor Tod Marks says, quote, "its a wake-up call to consumers to realize that the price isnt always the price." The survey of more than two-thousand U.S. households found that more than 90 percent were able to negotiate lower prices on furniture and home electronics. Haggling was also shown to lower medical bills.
