The Volunteer Center in Owensboro is in danger of closing.
The center serves a five-county area with programs that supply volunteers to 70 non-profit agencies.
They do everything from tax preparation to leaf raking.
But the combination of federal funding sources drying up and a 45 percent cut from the united way has the center down to two full-time employees.
The volunteer center needs 15 to 18 thousand dollars by the end of the year to stay open.
The budget is 150-thousand dollars.
