From: John James Audubon State Park State Parks Purchases 12.5 Acres Of Land For John James Audubon State Park In Henderson The Kentucky State Parks have purchased 12.5 acres of land to add to John James Audubon State Park in Henderson. Parks Commissioner J.T. Miller said a study will be conducted of how best to use the new land. The purchase could allow the park system to create another entrance and exit on Watson Lane to relieve traffic that uses the current entrance and exit onto U.S. 41, pursuant to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet approval and funding by the General Assembly. John James Audubon State Park is the site where John James Audubon studied and painted birds from 1810-1819. The park is equipped with cottages and a campground and offers many recreational opportunities including a nine-hole golf course, 6 miles of hiking trails, fishing, and more. It also has a museum and nature center that interprets the life of John James Audubon through a collection of his paintings and memorabilia.
