breaking news
A Warrick County mother who lost her toddler in a tragic accident is turning her pain into a benefit for other kids in the community.
Three year old Jeb Gourley died when he was run over by construction equipment in June.
His mother wants to preserve his memory in the Boonville Spray Park.
If Cathy Gourley had to describe her youngest son she wouldnt use words, she would just show you this picture.
"All boy. Always dirty. He was my wild child."
3 year old Jeb Gourleys wild spirit was stopped in June.
He was sitting in a bulldozer with his dad who was building a new family home near Yankeetown.
"The door got bumped and he fell out and was killed."
The day after his 6 year old sister Hannah drew this picture of Jeb as an angel to deal with her pain.
His mom is dealing with it by keeping busy, turning the picture into a Christmas card.
The best way we can honor Jeb and work towards a goal.
That goal is selling the cards to raise enough money for a memorial.
They want to put at Jebs favorite place play and clean off the mud, the Boonville Spray Park.
Jeb played there the day before he died
They plan to use the money to fill this empty space keep him alive and give kids a place to play in his honor.
Gourley wants to put in a frog, whale and turtle fountain.
Three of Jebs favorite animals.
But its not cheap.
"The three pieces just to buy the pieces is 15 thousand dollars."
Gourley only makes one thousand dollars for every four thousand cards sold.
So shes got a lot of angels to sell.
But wont give up because -
"I want his name to live forever."
In a place all kids can enjoy just like her free spirit toddler did.
If youd like to help - you can buy a pack of cards at Boonville City Hall and most stores in the town square including Main Street Baptist Church, Locust Street Cafe, and Warrick Publishing.
