Is Holiday World a bad neighbor?
Residents of Santa Claus, Indiana say they want the popular theme park to pay its fair share for upgrading the local water
More than one hundred Santa Claus residents came out to voice their concerns Monday night about the possible 29-percent hike in their water bills.
Many of them think upgrades to the local water and sewer system are needed because Holiday Worlds Splashn Safari water park continues to grow from year to year.
Holiday world president Will Koch says the park will pay for half the cost of the upgrade, but only uses 25 percent of the towns water.
One of the popular ideas given to the city was to charge Holiday World visitors an extra tax on the ticket.
If the the water rate hike is approved it will go into effect December 2008.
